American democracy in its 250 year history has seldom been tested as it has been over the last few years. But democracy is also being tested worldwide. 1/3 of the world's population are living in democratic countries that became less democratic over the past 20 years. But the trend in the U.S. can be reversed - if people get involved and show up for their democratic institutions.
"Democracy is hard work," says our guest, Anne Tindall. Rescuing democracy won't happen by itself. It takes effort. And that's what Anne Tindall and her co-workers at Protect Democracy are doing day in and day out - fighting to keep democracy alive.
Anne is Special Counsel at Protect Democracy where she works to ensure that elections are free and fair, to prevent political violence, and to secure accountability for abuses of power at the federal and state level.
