Thousands of Palestinian children in Gaza are suffering severe physical and mental injuries due to the ongoing war. While the majority of the Gazan health care system has been demolished, these children still need help for limb amputations, eye loss, burns, shrapnel and other traumas. Founded in 2024 in response to the continuing devastation in Gaza, HEAL Palestine brings injured children to the U.S. for urgent medical care that they can no longer get locally. It's a grassroots organization powered by donors and volunteers, including medical professionals, in the U.S. and around the world. HEAL Palestine's projects and programs in Gaza and Egypt empower displaced Palestinians to support and uplift their own communities.
Our guest is Steve Sosbee, co-founder and Executive Director. For over three decades, he has led humanitarian efforts in Palestine beginning with arranging free medical care in the U.S. in 1991 for injured Palestinian children, and organizing the first volunteer medical missions to Gaza in 1995.
